In a quiet forest, there lived a rabbit named Rusty who was always in a hurry. He darted from one task to another, never taking time to finish anything properly. Rusty wanted to build the best burrow in the forest, but his burrow was always half-finished because he kept getting distracted by other projects—digging tunnels, gathering food, and chasing butterflies.
One day, Rusty met an old turtle named Toby, who was known for his wisdom. Toby was slowly and methodically digging his burrow by the riverbank.
“Why are you moving so slowly?” Rusty asked impatiently. “If you don’t hurry, you’ll never finish!
”Toby smiled and replied, “I may be slow, but I focus on one thing at a time. By the time I finish, my burrow will be deep and safe, just as I planned.”
Rusty laughed and ran off, thinking he could do better by doing everything at once. But as the weeks passed, Rusty’s burrow remained incomplete, while Toby’s burrow stood strong and secure.
One day, a fierce storm swept through the forest. Rusty’s burrow flooded and collapsed, forcing him to seek shelter elsewhere. When the storm passed, Rusty found Toby sitting comfortably in his warm, dry burrow.
Rusty realized his mistake. He had been too focused on doing many things quickly rather than finishing one thing well. From that day on, Rusty decided to prioritize his tasks, completing one project at a time with care and attention.
